Halo tom tom

Halo tom tom

Stitchery collection

This collection was created during the lock downs and when I was suffering from Long Covid. I do have to say that designing is my time off and I always have a creative file on the go so when I want a break from working I visit my file and carry on creating. I often draw and paint ideas and then I scan them into my Mac, I carry on developing them on my screen to create motifs and then repeat patterns.

I am always gathering inspiration and I really wanted to explore and know more about the ancient/antique embroidery from Eastern Europe. I am always amazed at how much work must go into every piece which then becomes a work of art.  Some of it is so distinctive and you can see straight away where it comes from for example the Cyclades Islands in Greece and the Hungarian folk art embroideries.

This collection was a nod to this delicate past-time. I think I am also attracted to this type of needlecraft because I remember at school taking my A level art. I was taught by a 90-year-old nun and we all had to learn how to embroider. Most of the time I think I used chain stitch, but we did have to learn some very intricate methods, known as drawn thread work. For the life of me I would not have a clue how to do it now. I do remember loving doing it and I don’t think I have used these skills since.  I did go through a massive knitting and crochet phase, I taught myself from You Tube and I crocheted everything that moved. Knitting was harder than crochet and took longer to create finished items. I remember knitting long socks for one of my sons and it took weeks using small needles, when he wore them, and holes appeared after only one day! I was devastated.

How long before I get my fabric and wallpaper
All the fabric and wallpaper is printed to order, we do not hold any stock.
The fabric takes about 7 days to get back from the printers, we check it and then send it 24 hour courier to you or your curtain maker.
The wallpaper can take a little longer from 7 to 10 days, it depends how busy the printers are. The lead times can be longer if the printers are busy, this is usually in the Autumn.
