I really wanted to create this mini collection which was inspired by some wonderful Greek island holidays I took with my family and my twin sister. She lives in Sydney and comes over every summer so we always try and go on a twin holiday together. We have done Paxos, Corfu and Santorini so far and have always had such a great time. She helped me name the fabrics which was good fun remembering all the happy times and places looking back at those holidays. I remember visiting Santorini and being amazed at how many tourists were there, back in the day when I was 18, I back packed around all those islands but never managed to get to Santorini, they were totally unspoilt back in the 80s, very different today. I managed to find some tucked away museums on Santorini which have given me so great inspiration for future pattern designs and also started me off on this collection. My Sister always used to take an annual photo of me for my brochure every year while we were on holiday, I always used to wear and embroidered top which I called my ABBA top, it reminded me of the film Mamma Mia, where they filmed in the Greek Islands. This collection was also inspired by my love for ABBA, I have been a fan since I first saw them on the Eurovision Song Contest many years ago, If I was allowed I would have called this collection the ABBA collection but my PR wouldn’t let me! All the designs started off as hand sketches and paintings, some of the colours are brighter than some of my other designs but I think they work really well and will definitely stand out and define any space or window area.
