I was so thrilled to be contacted by The Dormy House and asked for samples of my fabrics. They came back and asked if they could stock some of the fabrics from The Summer Tea collection, Tea for two and Madam Birdie fabric. As long as I can remember I have always looked and longed for products from the Dormy House, I think they have it so right with the products they sell and the image they project. The one product I always used to think was a great idea was hiding a telly under a table with a very flared table cloth, I think now our televisions have changed a bit in shape now as everybody is going of the flat screen. The simple table they sold which could be covered in any fabric is so classic and could be used in a bedroom or a drawing room. Maybe a bit of an off shoot from the 80s but I think still works today. There are so many good ideas and the company has really evolved over the years but still have their ‘old faithful’ products which have stood the test of time.
Looking at the other fabrics they sell, I think they go for quite simple safe small prints in muted colours. As a researchers into my market I have noticed other designers like Sarah Hardaker in there but it is difficult to see where all the other fabrics come from. I wish I could produce more muted colours but I find it so hard to do, being an Aquarian I seem to go for colour colour all the time. I do like safe schemes which are simple too but fabric is a great way to express yourself and really transform a room.
